چکیده

United Nations has estimated that 130 million people would suffer from osteoarthritis worldwide by 2050. This disease require patients to undergo a surgery known as Total Hip Replacement (THR) which failure rate of approximately 1 % with lifespan 20 years. The biomaterials used manufacture this total hip artroplasty are mainly made Zirconia-Toughened Alumina. In work, Zirconia Toughened Alumina (ZTA) composites 10 vol% Y-TZP content were doped small amount (0.01 wt%) graphene oxide (GO). GO-doped ZTA produced via two-stage sintering T ranging between 1400°C and 1550°C, heating 20°C/min, followed 2 1350°C 12 hours holding time. sintered samples then evaluated on its microstructure mechanical properties such bulk density, Vickers hardness, Young’s modulus fracture toughness investigate the effect GO addition prepared sintering. results showed containing up 0.1 wt% is beneficial in improving microstructural sample recorded high hardness 18.5 GPa, 406 GPa 5.8 MPam 1/2 when at 1450?.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of pressureless sintered alumina-silver composites

The silver toughened alumina ceramics, which were fabricated via a conventional ceramic processing route using commercially available alumina and silver oxide powders as the starting materials, exhibit a higher fracture toughness (6 to 9 MPamo.5) than the monolithic alumina ceramic ( 2.5 to 3.0 MPamo.5). The weak interfacial bonding between the silver inclusions and the alumina matrix is charac...

Comparison of the effect of chromium oxide and magnesium oxide on the mechanical properties and microstructure of alumina-mullite-zirconia composites

Alumina-mullite-zirconia composites were prepared by the reaction sintering method between alumina and zircon powders and the effect of two additives (chromium oxide and manganese oxide)were investigated on their properties. 2 and 4 wt% of each oxide were added to the raw material composition and after pressing, the samples were sintered at 1630°C. The results showed that chromium oxide decreas...

Elaboration of Alumina-Zirconia Composites: Role of the Zirconia Content on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties

Alumina-zirconia (AZ) composites are attractive structural materials, which combine the high hardness and Young's modulus of the alumina matrix with additional toughening effects, due to the zirconia dispersion. In this study, AZ composites containing different amounts of zirconia (in the range 5-20 vol %) were prepared by a wet chemical method, consisting on the surface coating of alumina powd...
